Biographical Sketch
I was saved at the age of 5 after church at home one evening. I continued to grow up in Tabernacle Baptist Church in Ithaca, NY. Through friendships in college learned of BHS and applied for a teaching position for the 1998/99 school year. God’s hand was very evident to me in all ways. I have a home in Woodbury; a wife, Amy; a daughter, Hannah; and a son Aiden.
Classes Taught
AP English—Prepared seniors for the AP Exam in May which evaluates a student’s ability to write creative and perceptive responses to literature. The class content focuses on literary classics of all eras.
English IV—Is for all other seniors and takes a chronological journey through British literature. Research skills and writing with a thesis are also emphasized.
English I—Looks at literature by genre categories. Students begin to experiment with literary devices and original interpretations. Grammar is covered in five units dispersed within literature studies.
Creative Writing—Is an elective course recommended for anyone in grades 10-12 who would like to experiment with writing styles and methods that go beyond traditional academic composition writing. Students are also exposed to various career opportunities available within writing fields.
Speech—Is required of all upperclass students because it is a course in which verbal communication can be practiced and enhanced in ways not possible in other academic subjects. Each student will perform a minimum of three speeches in front of his/her classmates, as well as conduct a mock job interview with the teacher. Proper outlining and resume writing are also emphasized.
