Biographical Sketch
I was raised in a believing family and became convinced of my sinfulness and need of the Savior as a child and put my trust in Him for forgiveness and salvation. In college I met my husband, Bill. We were married after graduation. We have 2 children, Doug and Jennifer.
Classes Taught
Spanish I—Introduces basic grammar and vocabulary with the emphasis on skill development (reading, writing, speaking and listening comprehension). Students are introduced to Hispanic culture. The main project is the beginning of a writing portfolio.
Spanish II—Continues basic grammar and more extensive vocabulary lists with continued emphasis on skill development. The main project is the continuation of the writing portfolio.
Spanish III—Presents advanced grammar, completing all simple and compound tenses and beginning commands, and continues extensive vocabulary. There is a major shift to mastery of skills that the student must demonstrate on a regular basis. Much of the instruction and grammar lessons are presented in Spanish. The skills portfolio continues to be the major project.
Spanish IV—The history of Spain is integrated with reading skills through short stories that are set in corresponding periods of Spanish history. The origin and development of the language are discussed. Excerpts of Spanish literature are sampled. Advanced grammar consists of the imperative voice and all subjunctive mood in all tenses. The emphasis in skill mastery continues. Cultural insights and travel experience enhance the classroom.
