Biographical Sketch
I grew up at Haddon Heights Baptist Church. I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was 8 yrs. old through the witness of my sister. I was baptized when I was 13 and went on to dedicate my life to serving wherever God could use me in my teen years. I married Steve Lightcap when I was 21 and we have continued to attend and serve together at Haddon Heights Baptist. We have 3 children. Diana graduated from BHS in 2004 and is currently attending Liberty University as a junior. Julieann graduated from BRS in 2006 and is a freshman at Philadelphia Biblical University and Stephen is a freshman.
Classes Taught
Third grade is a year where students begin to take much more responsibility for their own work. This is a shift from the high amount of parent involvement in the lower grades. In our math curriculum we work on refining our skills in addition and subtraction and then move on to master multiplication and finally use that knowledge to learn division.
In Social Studies we travel through American History from Christopher Columbus to Billy Sunday, with lots of exciting field trips to bring US History to life.
We spend the year reading all types of literature and learning to recognize all the different genres.
Our challenge in handwriting is to refine our manuscript skills and then go on to master cursive and use it every day. In Language we begin by reviewing the types of sentences and move all the way through writing our first research paper.
We’ll sharpen our scientific process skills by doing our own experiments to help us learn about plants, animals, the environment, matter, forces, machines, and energy.
In Bible we will study the Life of Christ. In 3rd grade we move fast, and work hard, but we have lots of fun together while we do it.
